Understanding Acronyms

Q: What training can I claim for on my TP2?

A: Claim for all training that you have undertaken within the year even if it did not appear on your TP1 for that year.  As long as you do not try and claim for more days than that in your original claim and also you must have evidence that you have attended or carried out the training.

Q: Do I need to take a Health and Safety Test if I am applying for my CSCS card under the industry accreditation route?

A: Yes, unless you are exempt (e.g. hold a Site Safety Management 5 year certificate) this is to ensure that you are up to date with current Health and Safety knowledge and practice.

Q: If I want to get my existing staff qualified to NVQ level where do I start?

A: One of the best and most effective ways is to use the OSAT process, this process will allow you to carry out a skills assessment against the NVQ, you may find that your staff already meet the standard and can show their competence at the relevant level.  If gaps are identified a development plan will be put in place and there will be a commitment from the Assessor/Employer and Employee to provide evidence and undertake and relevant training. For further information please contact the CITB OSAT co-ordinator for our area – paul.beharrell@ctib.co.uk
